Large volumes gas available in Australia

Australia is home to large volumes of natural gas used to power homes; around 60% of gas is of the natural kind, which is mostly made up of Methane. This can vary depending on which area of Australia you live in. A article, we are going to run through the two types of gas that can be found all over the household, and whether the gas available in Australia used to power household can pose a danger in any way.

Methane one of the best gas that is used to power the whole home, this is as long as it is natural & is the safest to value in domestic circumstances, for example cooking food on a gas hob. Methane runs through piping in the home and is distributed into areas like the kitchen, and sometimes to heat a boiler depending on how you have it powered.

Other types:
As mentioned, the most common type of gas used to power homes is made up mostly of Methane, but there is also another gas known as LP: Liquid Petroleum, which is commonly found in a cooking gas cylinder. It can be used as cooking fuel and is mixed with propane and butane, which are both flammable hydrocarbons. LP is more common in cooking gas, as Methane is used to power the rest of the home. This is not to be confused with cooking gas, which is again, powered by Methane.
LP is more commonly used in outdoor spaces, for example in a circumstance where you would need to transport gas to provide an open flame. It is less of domestic gas and more for commercial use. You should not find this connected internally use into the home, it is more for outdoor use.

Is it safe?
Particular Methane is the safest due to it being completely natural. It is also a good alternative to heating a home as it costs less to produce and is more economical for the environment, whereas other methods incur fossil fuels being burnt. Of course, leaving the gas on for a prolonged period of time can be fatal, and if you ever smell a gas leak exit your home immediately and call emergency services, like methane and other gases in the home are extremely flammable.
LP is also considered safe as it is sold in grocery stores, but should not really be used inside the home due to the fact that it is compressed and less controlled than methane. It is more for commercial use.

What are the benefits of methane?
  • It is natural: Meaning that it produces fewer greenhouse gases and can also be less harmful. Of course, the only gas that is not harmful is oxygen, so please do not confuse methane with being a 100% safe gas being produced.
  •
  • Costs less: Natural gas is 40% cheaper than its electricity sister. That is not a man-made material, it factor that there is an abundance of it (similar to solar energy) therefore suppliers do not requirement to charge as much for it.
Economical: That is far less damaging than burning fossil gas or using nuclear power that can be detrimental if there is a mistake. It can be considered as ‘green’ energy to some degree.

How Do Energy Comparison Websites Actually Work in Australia

43% of Australians think that their energy plans are too complicated to compare. For those that are searching for a better deal, energy comparison sites are often the go-to source of information but can these sites really find you the best deal? Many of the consumers we speak to are hesitant to look for a better deal, despite Australian’s spending an estimated $1.2 billion more on energy bills than they should. Energy comparison sites offer consumers a simple way to rank retailers, but you may get a different result on each site. Some sites don’t have all of the available retailers listed and so can’t give a comprehensive comparison. Some sites use algorithms that. retailers paying higher commissions for higher listings and some rank by value or services offered rather than by cost. The government run site,

Energy Made Easy, offers an impartial, non-profit driven comparison but this site only lists the generally available offers from each retailer so you may miss out on comparing any packages or special offers. So what is the best way to compare your energy plan? Simply take a copy of your current bill and search for the cents per kWh rate and the daily service fee after any discounts you are receiving. You can then shop around online or by calling your preferred retailers. Energy comparison sites can quickly give you a list of retailers ranked by your priorities, but they don’t list all options and some sites allow retailers to pay more for a higher listing. Use your current bill to find out what you are actually paying per kWh and what your daily service fee is and with this information you can make a more informed decision. If you would like a free bill comparison or would like to learn more about your energy bill.

How to find the best electricity price

Utility Commission called power to choose org that's the website that we'll be using today but if you' re outside of Texas there's still different options so you can look at websites such as electric choice com that will offer similar plan options but it will be for a variety of different states all right so we've gone to power to choose org and the first thing that it's asking us to enter in our zip code so we're a put in the zip code here and it gives us two different options we're go with the one that says narrow your search and it's going to ask us three question sit I'll help to narrow down the options and you'll see here the first one is

how much electricity do you use in a month this is probably the single most important thing to picking the right plan so this will get us in the ball park we're going to go with a thousand to 2,000 kilowatt hours for now and you'll see how important this is before the end of this video the second question is what type of plan are you interested in as far as the different rate structures and we're go nna go here with a fixed rate now some of these other ones would be variable would mean that they change with the market you'll see that there's variable components to how they structure the rates but fixed means that it's going to be fixed pricing for the term the contract it's not going to change as market pricing changes the third question that it's asking us is how long do we want our contract to last our typical recommendation would be 12 months or a year you can go shorter so if you can go down to three months or maybe six months or you can go longer up to maybe 36 months what you'll find is that the shorter term contracts are often lower price this means because they are geared more toward seasonality so for example if you do a six-month contract here in the fall as you're heading into winter the winter Compare electricity prices are normally lower especially somewhere like Texas and that means that it may be lower for the six months of the contract but when you come up the next summer and you extend it then it's going to be higher pricing anyway so the twelve months kind of averages that out now if you go with a 36 month contract let's say what's going to happen is you're gonna have a higher price through the whole period because you're more protected against any market price increases as you go out further one other thing to think about here is the impact of termination fees most of these contracts will have a termination fee if

you read the fine print typically they won't charge you for that if you are just relocating or moving but if you cancel it for some other reason Then you would have that penalty so you may want to stay with the shorter term contracts like a year two to reduce some of that risk of having to cancel the contract we're getting a note here about minimum electricity usage there are minimum charges that you'll often find regardless of how much electricity you use we're going to look at that in more detail
